DO NOT BE AFRAID…DO NOT FEAR

If you read through the Bible, you will find ‘fear not or do not be afraid’ 365 times; one ‘fear not’ for every day of the year.  So, I believe God knew this would be our greatest battle while on this giant ball we call earth.

“I have chosen you and not cast you off”; fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

         Psalm 46 tells us that our God is our refuge and strength. No matter what comes our way, His promise is that He will never, no not ever, leave us alone.  (Deut. 31:8). He not only goes with us, but He goes before us to make the crooked places straight.

         Hebrews 13:5 says “ Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

         Before Jesus ascended to heaven, He told His disciples (we are His disciples) that He will ask His Father to send the Holy Spirit to live within us and be with us forever.

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you”.

         My dear friend, these are great and precious promises from our Father in heaven. We can rest in His promises, because God cannot lie. (Numbers 23:19)

         I recorded a song many years ago that I sang as a young girl.  I really didn’t think about the words back then, but as I’ve gotten older and walked with the Lord many years, the truth of this song resonates in my heart and mind quite often:

I’ve seen the lightning flashing

And heard the thunder roll,

I’ve felt sin’s breakers dashing,

which tried to conquer my soul;

I’ve heard the voice of my Savior,

He bid me still fight on:

He promised never to leave me,

Never to leave me alone.

Chorus:

No, never alone,

No, never alone;

He promised never to leave me,

Never to leave me alone:

No, never alone,

No, never alone:

He promised never to leave me,
N

ever to leave me alone.

He died on Calv'ry's mountain,

For me they pierced His side,

For me He opened that fountain,

The crimson, cleansing tide;

For me He’s waiting in glory

Upon His heavenly throne:

He promised never to leave me,

Never to leave me alone.
